EASD signed manifesto calling for an EU ban of PFAS

There is clear and unequivocal evidence that demonstrates global contamination of the environment, wildlife and human populations by PFAS – the most persistent human-made chemicals known to date. PFAS pose an unacceptable risk for both current and future generations due to their extreme persistence, and the scientific evidence that links exposure to harmful impacts on wildlife and human health. There are 1000s of different PFAS. However, it is of great concern that only a handful are currently controlled by regulations at the global level even though many safer alternatives are readily available.

We, European civil society organizations, urge EU Member States and the Commission to ban all PFAS in consumer products by 2025 and to have a complete ban by 2030.

A civil society manifesto calling for an EU ban of PFAS was launched. At 25.10.2022. EASD join signatories of manifesto. Joint EU NGOs PFAS manifesto_FINAL_Oct2022
